Gridlife Mid-Ohio – The Monsoon Event!

Gridlife Mid-Ohio – The Monsoon Event!

The weekend at Mid-Ohio was nothing short of dramatic and very wet. Practice sessions on Thursday and Friday were met with severe thunderstorm warnings that delayed track time and created less than ideal conditions. Still, we managed to get a few wet laps in, giving us our first real-world data on the car in rainy conditions and a shot at a podium if the skies stayed gray.

The weekend followed a classic time attack format, fastest lap wins. Once we finally had a window of dry conditions, we laid down a solid 1:30.6 lap. Thanks to the new Stage 2 transmission and torque converter from Pure Drivetrain Solutions, the car ran at full power, holding every gear without the clutch slip issues we faced at the last event.

Unfortunately, the highs didn’t last. On our next two flying laps, the car completely shut down due to an unexpected electrical issue. Thankfully, Alex diagnosed and resolved it quickly, getting Luca back on track for the final session. Sitting in 6th at that point, Luca pulled out a 1:29.1 lap, enough to momentarily secure 3rd place and a spot on the podium. But the competition didn’t ease up. In the final minutes, our time was edged out by just 0.4 seconds, pushing us into 4th by the end of the event.

Despite the ups and downs, this was a valuable learning weekend. We now have solid wet weather data and real time experience dealing with mid-session technical issues. Most importantly, finishing 4th at Mid-Ohio shows clear progress from our previous outing at Gridlife Gingerman.

Onward and upward!
